The Carl J. Ludwig All-Sports Championship Trophy was established in 1988. It was to honor Dad Carl Ludwig who served Massachusetts DeMolay as its Director of Athletics for over thirty years. Dad Ludwig was a member of Sir Galahad Chapter in Roslindale and a member of the Massachusetts Court Legion of Honor. He retired as Director of Athletics in 1987, and the Ludwig Trophy was established in 1988-1989 by then Director of Athletics Jeff Stone. Dad Ludwig was present to award the first trophy to Boston Chapter at Conclave 1989, and passed away shortly thereafter.
